Assaulting an employee or agent of a housing and redevelopment authority while they are performing official duties or because of their employment constitutes a gross misdemeanor

Assault that inflicts demonstrable bodily harm is elevated to a felony, punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $4,000, or both

"Employee or agent" is broadly defined to include paid employees, contractors, volunteers, and those acting on behalf of an authority in roles such as property management, inspections, tenant services, compliance, and legal representation

Amends Minnesota Statutes section 609.2231 by adding subdivision 12 specifically protecting housing and redevelopment authority personnel

Effective August 1, 2026, applying to crimes committed on or after that date
