Public postsecondary institutions regulated under chapters 136F or 137 may establish policies restricting visitors from carrying or possessing firearms on campus property

Visitors carrying firearms in violation of institutional policies may be ordered to leave the premises

Failure to leave when requested constitutes a petty misdemeanor, with first offense fines capped at $25

Firearms carried in violation of visitor policies are exempt from forfeiture under section 609.531
