Public postsecondary institutions in Minnesota (regulated under chapter 136F or 137) would gain authority to establish policies restricting visitors from carrying or possessing firearms on campus property

Visitors carrying firearms in violation of institutional policies may be ordered to leave the premises; refusal to leave constitutes a petty misdemeanor with a maximum $500 fine for first offense

Firearms carried in violation of campus visitor policies are explicitly exempt from forfeiture under section 609.531

Parking facilities and parking areas remain exempt from any firearm restrictions—institutions cannot prohibit lawful carry or possession in these locations
