Public schools prohibited from using American Indian names, symbols, or images as mascots, nicknames, logos, or team names starting September 1, 2026, unless granted an exemption

Exemption applies to public schools located within federally recognized Tribal Nation reservations where at least 95% of students meet the state definition of American Indian student

Commissioner of Education must establish a funding application process to help schools replace prohibited imagery on uniforms, signs, gym floors, equipment, websites, and other property, with reimbursement available for expenses incurred after July 1, 2023

Schools applying for mascot replacement assistance are not required to comply with the prohibition until the commissioner approves their request, and funding must be provided within 30 days of approval

Appropriates a one-time amount (dollar figure unspecified in bill text) from the general fund in fiscal year 2026 for mascot replacement assistance, available until July 1, 2028
