Linda Wallenberg, an English teacher at Eden Prairie High School since 1977, is named Minnesota's 61st Teacher of the Year and the first recipient from the Eden Prairie district, selected from 142 nominees statewide

Wallenberg has taught for nearly 50 years and became the first certified Swedish teacher in Minnesota, earning a master's in English education from the University of Minnesota

She received the Royal Order of the Polar Star from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in 1988 for her work in Swedish language education and has served 42 summers at Concordia College's Swedish Language Village

As gymnastics coach, she led Eden Prairie High School to a 150-7 record and two national titles, was twice named National Gymnastics Coach of the Year, and was inducted into the Minnesota Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2005

The Senate directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare an enrolled copy of the resolution to be transmitted to Linda Wallenberg
