All ambulance districts authorized to adopt laws or regulations regarding basic life support ambulances must require such ambulances to be equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED) and staffed by at least one individual trained in AED use.

All basic life support ambulances and stretcher vans operated in Missouri must be equipped with an AED and staffed by at least one individual trained in AED use.

Persons or entities acquiring an AED must ensure users receive training from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent nationally recognized course in defibrillator use and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Persons or entities acquiring an AED must notify the emergency communications district or ambulance dispatch center of the AED location and have a physician review and approve the clinical protocol for AED use outside health care facilities.

Political subdivisions authorized to operate licensed ambulance services must adopt laws, ordinances, or regulations for stretcher vans that are at least as strict as minimum state requirements regarding AED equipment and trained staff.
