HB 1294 Summary

• Increases the number of occasions organizations can conduct pull-tab only bingo games from four to fifteen times annually with an abbreviated $10 license fee.

• Increases the maximum number of bingo days per week from one day to two days and extends the prohibited operating hours from midnight-10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m.

• Increases advertising expenditure allowance from two percent to ten percent of total bingo receipts devoted to charitable purposes.

• Changes bingo prize limit regulations by allowing the commission to set prize limits by regulation rather than specifying fixed dollar amounts, and allows electronic bingo card monitoring devices in addition to disposable paper cards.

• Repeals the two-tenths of one cent tax on each bingo card and instead requires quarterly reporting for regular licensees and special licensees conducting more than three occasions annually, while modifying manufacturer and supplier licensing fees and investigation cost responsibility.
