Payment of emergency charges makes the property owner a member in good standing until regular membership payments are due again.

In certain third-classification counties, county governing bodies may submit voter proposals to add volunteer fire association fees to personal property tax lists for county collection and disbursement to the association.

Property owners may be assessed once annually for subscription or membership fees on habitable residences and real property, with restrictions on assessments for multiple properties and limitations on fee increases to no more than 0.5% without voter approval.
