County governing bodies may adopt an order, ordinance, or resolution to provide for the election of sewer district trustees instead of appointment.

Any sewer district that elects trustees must establish at least five voting districts with boundaries that ensure persons receiving district services elect the majority of trustees.

Counties that choose to elect trustees must continue electing them for as long as the district exists.

County election costs for sewer district trustee elections shall be paid by the county, notwithstanding provisions of sections 115.063 and 115.065.
