School boards must work with the Missouri State High School Activities Association to develop guidelines and educational materials about concussions and head injuries for coaches, athletes, and parents/guardians

Youth athletes and their parents/guardians must sign and return a concussion and head injury information sheet yearly before the athlete participates in practice or competition

Any youth athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury during practice or competition must be immediately removed from play

A removed athlete cannot return to play until evaluated by a licensed health care provider trained in concussion evaluation and management, and must receive written clearance from that provider

Volunteer health care providers who authorize return to play are protected from civil liability except for gross negligence or willful/wanton misconduct
