Property-carrying commercial motor vehicles registered at a gross weight exceeding 12,000 pounds may now request and be issued two license plates instead of the standard one plate.

The director of revenue may assess an additional charge for issuing two plates, not to exceed the personalized license plate fee under section 301.144.

Two plates, if issued, must be displayed on the front and rear of the vehicle in the same manner as single plates, between 8 and 48 inches above the ground with letters and numbers right side up.

This change applies specifically to property-carrying commercial vehicles and does not affect other vehicle types such as passenger-carrying commercial vehicles, buses, motorcycles, or trailers.
