Adds new subsection 6 creating an exception to the unlawful use of weapons statute for persons possessing firearms while intoxicated in their own residence, unless they have the firearm on their person or have threatened to retrieve it for purposes of doing bodily harm.

Modifies subsection 1(5) to reference the new subsection 6 exception regarding intoxicated firearm possession in residences.

Renumbers existing subsections 6 through 11 to subsections 7 through 12 to accommodate the new subsection 6.

Maintains all other existing provisions of the unlawful use of weapons statute, including prohibitions on concealed carry without a permit, discharging firearms in prohibited locations, and carrying weapons in schools or government buildings.

Preserves existing exemptions for peace officers, retired peace officers meeting qualification standards, military personnel, judges, and other specified officials.
