Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol shall issue rules and regulations to computerize the vehicle safety inspection program, eliminate paperwork and inspection stickers, and increase consumer protection.

Maximum inspection fee for vehicles increases from $12 to $18, as determined by each official inspection station.

Maximum fee for certificates of inspection, stickers, or seals purchased by stations from the superintendent increases from $1.50 to $2.00 per certificate.

Official inspection stations must provide written estimates before making repairs, inform owners that corrections need not be made at the station, and charge no additional inspection fee for follow-up inspections within 20 days of initial inspection.

Violations of inspection station requirements are classified as Class C misdemeanors.
