MO HB2273

Repeals and replaces section 630.060 of Missouri Revised Statutes regarding mental health community participation.

Requires the Department of Mental Health to seek cooperation and active participation from communities, counties, organizations, agencies, private and not-for-profit corporations, and individuals in establishing quality mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse programs.

Authorizes the Department to develop public information and education programs related to mental disorders, developmental disabilities, and alcohol or drug abuse.

Permits the Department to directly contract with state agencies, local government units, gubernatorial advisory councils or commissions, and the Missouri Mental Health Foundation for programs improving public understanding of mental health and substance abuse issues.

Allows the Department's contracting process with these entities to follow chapter 34 provisions but does not require compliance with those procedures.
