Allows parents who are active-duty U.S. military members classified as "key and essential personnel" and required to reside on a military installation to send their children to public school within a 30-mile radius of the installation, provided the parent was previously assigned there and the child previously attended school in that district.

Children sent to a school district under this provision are counted in the district's average daily attendance for state aid distribution through the foundation formula.

Parents are responsible for transportation if the school district does not have an existing bus route to the school of choice.

Parents may elect to send their child to a different district school only once per school year under this provision.

Knowingly submitting false information to satisfy the military personnel requirements is a class A misdemeanor, and school districts may file civil action to recover costs of attendance for pupils whose parents submitted false information.
