HB 2355 Summary

• Increases the threshold for asbestos abatement projects requiring regulation from 10 square feet or 16 linear feet to 160 square feet, 260 linear feet, or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos-containing materials

• Expands the definition of "regulated asbestos containing material" to include friable materials and certain nonfriable materials subjected to sanding, grinding, cutting, abrading, or demolition

• Reduces the advance notice requirement for asbestos abatement project applications from 20 days to 10 working days and requires submission of certified asbestos inspection survey results

• Updates OSHA regulatory references from 29 CFR 1926.58 to 29 CFR 1926.1101 throughout the asbestos regulations

• Modifies certification renewal requirements to allow individuals to recertify within 12 months of expiration rather than having certification lapse for 24 months before retraining is required
