Vehicles operated by contract carriers transporting railroad employees must be equipped with one or more operable oscillating amber or white strobe lights if purchased, leased, or placed in service after February 28, 2011

Lights must be mounted to the roof in the rear one-third portion of the vehicle or on/integrated into the rear bumper

Lights must be activated whenever the vehicle stops on or adjacent to a roadway for loading or unloading passengers or equipment

"Contract carrier" is defined as a passenger contract carrier that transports railroad employees for compensation

Requirements establish minimum standards and do not override stricter standards or regulations imposed by other laws or rules
