Ambulance district board members are subject to recall by registered voters from their election district through a petition process.

Recall proceedings cannot commence if the member has served fewer than 180 days, has 180 days or fewer remaining in their term, or has already survived a recall election during their current term.

A recall petition requires signatures from at least 25% of voters who participated in the most recent gubernatorial election in that election district, filed within 180 days of the notice of intention.

The election authority has 20 days to verify petition signatures are sufficient; if insufficient, petitioners have 10 days to file supplemental signatures.

A recall election must be held 45 to 120 days after the ambulance district board receives the certified petition, with the member able to resign anytime before 42 days before the election to remove the question from the ballot.
