Repeals and replaces section 84.830 of Missouri Revised Statutes governing prohibited political activities for Kansas City police officers and employees.

Removes the prohibition on police officers being members or officials of political party committees, ward committeepersons/committeewomen, or soliciting votes for candidates.

Retains prohibitions on using official authority to interfere with elections, making political contributions from salary, coercing political contributions from other officers, and affixing political signs to department property or vehicles.

Maintains requirements that examination questions and personnel decisions cannot be based on political or religious opinions or affiliations.

Penalties for violations include discharge from service, a fine of $50 to $500, imprisonment up to six months, and five-year ineligibility for reappointment to police or municipal positions.
