Motor vehicle dealers are prohibited from selling or leasing any new or used motor vehicle that does not comply with tinted window requirements in section 307.173.

Dealers must certify on a form prescribed by the director that every motor vehicle sold complies with tinted window specifications at the time of sale.

Dealers must provide purchasers with a copy of the compliance certification at the time of sale and retain one copy for their records.

Tinted window standards allow front side windows with 35% light transmission (±3%) and 35% or less luminous reflectance (±3%), with exceptions for medical permits and factory-installed tinting.

Violations of the dealer compliance requirements constitute an infraction offense.
