Hearing on protective order petitions must be held within 15 days of filing unless the court grants a continuance for good cause.

If petitioner proves abuse or stalking by preponderance of evidence, court shall issue a full order of protection valid for at least 180 days and not more than one year.

Full orders of protection may be renewed for additional periods of at least 180 days and not more than one year upon motion and hearing; a second renewal is also permitted.

Court may delay holding a hearing in stalking cases involving non-family/household members for up to 45 days if it finds the action is brought in good faith and not for intimidation purposes.

Orders of protection must be provided to the petitioner and local law enforcement the same day granted; law enforcement must enter information into the Missouri uniform law enforcement system within 24 hours.
