Adds "military medal" definition as any decoration or award presented or awarded to a member or unit of the armed forces or National Guard to the list of terms in sections 447.500-447.595 governing unclaimed property.

Requires the state treasurer's office to hold and maintain military medals delivered as abandoned property until the original owner or their heirs or beneficiaries can be identified and the medal returned.

Authorizes the state treasurer to designate a veteran's organization or other appropriate organization as custodian of military medals until the original owner or their respective heirs or beneficiaries are located.

Clarifies that property holders must send notice of unclaimed property via first class mail with "Address Correction Requested" postmark within twelve months prior to delivering property to the treasurer to satisfy "reasonable and necessary diligence" requirements.

Maintains the state historical society's role in reviewing abandoned tangible personal property with possible historical significance and receiving a reasonable fee for such reviews, with disputes over fees resolved by the commissioner of administration.
