Candidates for public office must file an affidavit with the Department of Revenue declaring they are not delinquent in state income taxes, city taxes, municipal user fees, personal property taxes, real property taxes, or are not a corporate officer of a fee office owing taxes to the state.

Candidates found to have false affidavits are given 30 days to pay outstanding taxes; failure to remit within 30 days results in disqualification from the current election and barring from refiling for an entire election cycle.

Fire protection district contractors providing professional services cannot receive compensation after contract termination except for services actually rendered.

Fire protection district directors must be voters for at least one year before election and over age 25; directors who are convicted of or plead guilty to any felony must immediately forfeit office.

Recall petitions for fire protection district officers require signatures equal to at least 20 percent (changed from 25 percent) of voters who voted in the most recent gubernatorial election in that district.
