Municipalities may annex parcels within research, development, or office park projects established under section 172.273 if the governing body finds it in the public interest, provided the parcel is contiguous and compact to existing corporate limits and located in an unincorporated county area.

Municipalities annexing parcels under section 71.275 must obtain written consent from all property owners located within the unincorporated area of the parcel.

Fourth classification cities with 2,300-2,400 inhabitants located in charter form counties with 198,000-199,200 inhabitants are prohibited from annexing adjacent territory without registered voters unless the city obtains written consent from all real property owners in that territory.
