HB 375 Summary

• Repeals the requirement for registered voters to provide a reason for voting by absentee ballot, allowing any eligible registered voter to vote absentee for all candidates and issues

• Removes the need to state reasons for absentee voting on both absentee ballot applications (Section 115.279) and ballot envelope statements (Section 115.283)

• Maintains existing absentee voting eligibility categories including absence from jurisdiction, illness/disability, religious belief, election authority employment, and incarceration

• Preserves special provisions for federal service members, overseas voters, new residents, and other categories of voters to vote absentee with appropriate limitations

• Eliminates notary seal and signature requirements for voters citing illness or disability as their reason for absentee voting
