Ambulance district board members are subject to recall by registered voters of their election district through a petition and election process.

Recall proceedings cannot commence if the member has served less than 180 days in their current term, has 180 days or fewer remaining in their term, or has already survived a recall election during their current term.

A notice of intention must be filed with the election authority, containing the member's name, a statement of reasons (not exceeding 200 words), and names and addresses of 1-5 recall proponents; the board member has 7 days to file a written response.

A recall petition requires signatures equal to at least 25 percent of voters who voted in the most recent gubernatorial election in that district and must be filed within 180 days of the notice of intention.

Upon certification of sufficient signatures by the election authority, an election must be held between 45 and 120 days later where voters decide whether to recall the member; the member may resign anytime before 42 days before the election to remove the question from the ballot.
