State employees who accrue overtime may choose to use those hours as compensatory leave time with supervisor approval.

Nonexempt state employees must be paid in cash for overtime unless they request compensatory time, and departments must pay out all unused overtime annually with employees retaining up to 80 compensatory hours.

Employees working ten-hour days and forty hours per week are not required to take two hours of vacation leave for paid holidays and may receive compensation for only an eight-hour workday instead.

State departments must notify legislative budget committees and the commissioner of administration annually by November 1st regarding overtime paid and estimated overtime costs, designated as separate line items in appropriations bills.

State appointing authorities must provide affected employees at least 15 days written notice before implementing a mass layoff of 50 or more employees, and notify county commissioners and city mayors when layoffs affect at least 50 employees in a single county.
