Department of Mental Health, in collaboration with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, shall develop a continuing professional education curriculum on eating disorders by December 31, 2011.

Curriculum must include recognition of at-risk individuals, warning signs and behaviors associated with eating disorders, and ways to assist those affected and their families.

Curriculum must cover dissemination of information about eating disorder seriousness and mortality, available counseling and treatment resources, and educational materials for middle and high school students and families.

Curriculum must address healthy body image development and positive self-esteem building.

School districts may adopt and implement the curriculum for school personnel in grades 6-12, including nurses, health care professionals, psychologists, counselors, and athletic coaches.
