Health benefit plans covering cancer chemotherapy cannot require higher co-payments, deductibles, or coinsurance for oral anticancer medications than for intravenously administered or injected chemotherapy medications.

Health carriers cannot comply with this requirement by increasing out-of-pocket costs for intravenous or injected cancer medications.

Health carriers may still require prior authorization and other appropriate utilization controls for chemotherapy coverage.

Supplemental insurance policies, Medicare supplements, long-term care policies, and short-term major medical policies of six months or less are exempt from these requirements.

Applies to health benefit plans and health carriers as defined in Missouri statute section 376.1350.
