State Board of Education shall adopt rules limiting participation in and practice for extracurricular activities during the school day and week, preserving academic time without interruption.

School district policies and Missouri State High School Activities Association rules apply to students only when under direct supervision of school employees or as specified by the board of trustees.

Students receiving a failing grade in any academic course during a grading period shall be suspended from all extracurricular activities for one grading period.

Suspended students may have their suspension removed early if they achieve passing grades in all classes at the end of a subsequent grading period; suspension cannot extend beyond the school year.

Students with disabilities whose individualized education program is the basis for suspension determination shall have their suspension based on failure to meet their IEP requirements rather than regular academic standards.
