Members of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation may obtain personalized specialty license plates featuring the foundation's emblem after paying an annual $15 emblem-use fee to the foundation.

License plates are available for personally-owned vehicles but exclude apportioned motor vehicles and commercial vehicles exceeding 18,000 pounds gross weight.

Upon annual application and $15 fee, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation issues an authorization statement; vehicle owners present this statement plus an additional $15 fee to the Director of Revenue to receive the specialty plate.

Specialty plates must be fully reflective, display "Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation" instead of "SHOW-ME STATE," and meet design standards prescribed by section 301.130 with no additional personalization fees charged.

Before manufacturing begins, the Department of Revenue must receive a $5,000 application fee, a proposed design, and at least 200 applications with required fees and documentation from interested purchasers.
