Private companies may be awarded contracts to operate the Missouri Department of Economic Development's websites (www.ded.mo.gov and www.missouridevelopment.org), with the state retaining ownership of all content.

Contractor companies may use, add to, and apply search engine optimization to website content, and must demonstrate a proven track record in search engine optimization with at least three examples of improving past clients' search engine rankings.

Private contractors may generate profit by selling online advertising to realtors, insurance companies, attorneys, private business parks, chambers of commerce, banks, and other entities that benefit from growing Missouri businesses.

Up to three private development companies may operate each website, and contracts shall be awarded at no cost to the companies.

The Department of Economic Development shall monitor contractor performance and may cancel any contract at any time without prior notice if the company fails to operate under departmental guidelines.
