Request the Department of Health and Senior Services to assess the feasibility of implementing a chronic disease management program for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation patients

Use available appropriations and private funding sources to identify opportunities to reduce the financial and clinical burden of atrial fibrillation-related strokes on Missouri and public programs including Medicare and Medicaid

Require submission of a report with findings and recommendations to the general assembly evaluating current quality of care in public programs and providing recommendations for improved patient health outcomes

Cite that atrial fibrillation affects more than 2.3 million Americans, causes 15% of all strokes, and results in strokes that are twice as likely to be fatal or severely disabling compared to non-AFib strokes

Note that 3 out of 4 AFib-related strokes can be prevented, but many patients are unaware of their risk
