Senate Bill No. 332 - Summary

• Repeals and replaces section 170.015, RSMo to revise requirements for human sexuality and sexually transmitted disease instruction in Missouri schools

• Requires course materials and instruction to be medically and factually accurate, based on peer-reviewed projects demonstrating influence on healthy behavior, and age-appropriate

• Mandates instruction present abstinence as the only sure way to avoid pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection, stress serious health hazards of STIs, and provide information on contraceptives and barrier methods including effectiveness rates

• Adds new requirements including information on human papillomavirus vaccine, dangers of sexual predators including online predators, and consequences of inappropriate text messaging

• Requires school districts to notify parents of basic content of human sexuality instruction and parents' right to remove students from instruction; makes curriculum materials and presenter information available for public inspection
