Missouri State Highway Patrol is authorized to sell surplus motor vehicles, watercraft, watercraft motors, and trailers, with preference given to municipal, county, political subdivisions, and state governmental agencies over general public sales.

All surplus property sales require written approval from the commissioner of administration and evaluation to determine the minimum acceptable sale price.

The "Highway Patrol's Motor Vehicle, Aircraft, and Watercraft Revolving Fund" is created to receive funds from vehicle and watercraft sales, restitution for damage or loss, aircraft purchases, and government agency reimbursements for aircraft flights.

Fund balances may be used for purchasing highway patrol motor vehicles, watercraft, aircraft, aircraft parts, and operational costs, administered by the superintendent of the highway patrol.

Unexpended fund balances at fiscal year-end are exempt from transfer to the general revenue fund under section 33.080.
