School district corporate organization lapses when classified unaccredited for two successive school years, with lapse occurring on June 30th of the second full school year of unaccredited classification.

State board of education must conduct public hearing in unaccredited district before or at time of lapse to review district's plan to return to accredited status and offer technical assistance.

Upon district lapse, state board may appoint special administrative board, attach territory to another district, establish new districts, or divide territory such that 25 percent remains intact with 75 percent attached to adjoining accredited districts.

If divided district achieves accredited status and remains accredited for five consecutive years, all previously attached territory and property transfers back to the original district.

Districts must grant employment interviews to permanent teachers from lapsed districts when additional teachers are needed due to enrollment increases from annexation.
