Beginning January 1, 2012, Missouri vehicle owners must display a window sticker on the front windshield as evidence of current registration instead of affixing tabs to license plates, except motorcycles and trailers which continue using plate tabs.

Window stickers shall be placed on the inside front window in an area prescribed by the director of revenue and serve as prima facie evidence that registration fees have been paid.

Fleet vehicles registered under section 301.032 are exempt from requiring renewal tabs or window stickers and instead receive multiyear license plates.

Vehicle owners replacing a stolen window sticker may receive up to two replacements per year at no cost when accompanied by a police report documenting the theft.

Law enforcement officers may not issue citations for missing window stickers if the vehicle is properly registered and the owner reports the sticker as stolen, though a warning may be issued.
