Repeals and replaces section 84.830, RSMo, regarding political activity restrictions for Kansas City police department officers and employees.

Removes prohibition on officers and employees giving, paying, lending, or contributing any part of their salary to political parties or purposes.

Prohibits officers and employees from being candidates for partisan public office and from soliciting votes or engaging in political work while on duty or wearing the official uniform.

Removes restrictions preventing officers from being members or officials of political party committees or serving as ward committeepersons.

Maintains existing penalty provisions including immediate discharge for violations, five-year ineligibility for appointment, and criminal penalties of $50-$500 fine and up to six months imprisonment.
