MO SB421

Repeals sections 115.350 and 561.021 RSMo and enacts a new section 561.021 consolidating felony-related restrictions on public office holders.

Requires forfeiture of public office upon sentencing if convicted of a felony under Missouri law or equivalent felony under another state's laws, or upon guilty/nolo contendere pleas.

Makes individuals convicted of felonies permanently ineligible to qualify as candidates for or hold any public office, elective or appointive, in Missouri state government or political subdivisions.

Forfeiture of office also applies to convictions or guilty pleas for crimes involving misconduct in office or dishonesty, or violations specified in the state constitution or other statutes.

Removes the previous language that limited ineligibility to the completion of sentence or probation, making the restriction permanent.
