Beginning January 1, 2013, members of the general assembly who have not served at least three full biennial assemblies shall not accrue credited service under the retirement system.

Persons covered by general assembly provisions receive cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) when there are increases in pay for members of the general assembly, equal to the percentage increase in pay.

Persons covered by statewide elected official provisions receive COLAs when there are increases in pay for statewide elected officials in the highest office held by such person.

Members of the general assembly must have served at least three full biennial assemblies to be covered by survivorship benefit provisions and must have at least four years as a statewide elected official for those same provisions.

Division of benefits orders in divorce proceedings for retired members are calculated under the year 2000 plan provisions, with cost-of-living adjustments accruing to the member's benefit after the marriage dissolution date.
