State employees who are United States Coast Guard Auxiliary members may receive up to 15 working days of leave per fiscal year without loss of pay, leave balance, or benefits to perform authorized Coast Guard duties, including travel.

Leave is unlimited when responding to state or nationally declared emergencies or disasters in Missouri or on navigable waterways within or adjacent to the state.

Employees must provide evidence from Coast Guard or Coast Guard Auxiliary authorities that they performed authorized duties before salary payment is made for the leave period.

State employers must compensate employees at their regular rate of pay during authorized leave and cannot discharge, discriminate against, or discourage employees from Coast Guard Auxiliary membership.

Private employers with 50 or more employees must grant up to 15 working days of unpaid leave per calendar year for Coast Guard Auxiliary duties, with the right to request employee exemption from specific missions.
