Beginning January 1, 2013, the director of revenue shall issue a window sticker to be placed on the front windshield of motor vehicles as evidence of registration in lieu of license plate tabs.

Motorcycles and trailers shall continue to receive license plate tabs instead of window stickers.

Window stickers shall be placed on the inside front window in an area prescribed by the director of revenue, and when properly displayed shall serve as prima facie evidence that registration fees have been paid.

A replacement window sticker fee is established at $8.50, consistent with fees for replacement license plates and tabs.

Persons who report a stolen window sticker with a police report may receive up to two replacement stickers per year at no cost, and law enforcement may not issue citations for missing stickers if the vehicle is properly registered.
