Director of the Department of Corrections is authorized to prescribe policies for salary increases for corrections officers

Director must submit a salary schedule report to the governor, speaker of the house, and president pro tem of the senate prior to January 1st each year

Salary schedule report must include a comparison of corrections officer salaries in three contiguous states: Iowa, Illinois, and Kentucky

Governor may make additional recommendations on the report, and the speaker and president pro tem may assign it to appropriate standing committees to review salary comparisons and maintain parity

Military service credit: corrections officers who served in the armed forces and are reinstated within 90 days of discharge (other than dishonorable) shall have their military service counted as service with the department, except for those who voluntarily extend their military service beyond their original enlistment period
