Department of Revenue may create an optional emergency contact database for instruction permit, driver's license, and nondriver's license holders

Permit and license holders can provide names, addresses, and telephone/cellular numbers for up to two emergency contact persons to be contacted in motor vehicle accidents or emergencies when unable to communicate

Emergency contact information can be provided to the license clerk during permit or license transactions, or through an online application for updates

Law enforcement and emergency personnel with online access to driver records may request and share emergency contact information as needed

Department of Revenue, law enforcement, and emergency personnel are protected from liability for sharing emergency contact information or if applicants fail to keep information updated; effective July 1, 2013
