Department of Natural Resources shall provide $500 incentives to homeowners or homebuilders for purchase and installation of solar water heating systems in private residences, subject to general assembly appropriations.

Homeowners may receive one $500 incentive per year and homebuilders may receive three $500 incentives per year, with total annual incentives capped at $100,000.

Solar water heating systems must meet qualification requirements including proof of purchase, installation conformity with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes, new unused components, minimum 2-year warranty, and installation in a private residence.

Incentives shall be dispersed in January, March, May, July, and September with a maximum of 40 incentives distributed each month.

Program shall automatically sunset 6 years after effective date unless reauthorized by the general assembly, and if reauthorized shall sunset 12 years after the reauthorization date.
