MO HB1997

Repeals and replaces section 167.131, RSMo, regarding unaccredited schools and pupil tuition.

Requires school districts without accredited schools to pay tuition and provide transportation for resident pupils attending accredited schools in the same or adjoining county.

Establishes tuition rate as the per pupil cost of maintaining the district's grade level grouping, calculated by dividing grade level grouping costs by average daily pupil attendance.

Limits tuition calculation to teachers' wages, incidental purposes, debt service, maintenance and replacements.

Specifies that no school or school district shall be required to admit any pupil, despite pupils' freedom to choose public schools.
