• Repeals and replaces section 84.830, RSMo, governing prohibited political activities for Kansas City Police Department officers and employees.

• Prohibits officers and employees from soliciting political contributions, making political contributions from salary, coercing others on political matters, and using official authority to interfere with elections.

• Restricts officers and employees from engaging in political work, soliciting votes, or being candidates for partisan public office while on duty or wearing the official uniform.

• Prohibits placing political signs, bumper stickers, or devices on department property or vehicles supporting or opposing candidates or ballot measures.

• Establishes penalties including discharge from service, five-year ineligibility for reappointment, fines of $50 to $500, and/or imprisonment up to six months for violations.
