Fire protection districts cannot enforce residential construction regulatory systems in cities, towns, villages, or counties that have adopted their own residential construction regulations; any such district regulations become advisory only.

Fire protection districts retain final regulatory authority over fire hydrant location, specifications, flow rates, and fire lanes for residential construction within their jurisdiction.

Fire protection districts may inspect alterations, enlargements, replacements, or repairs to detached single-family or two-family dwellings.

Fire protection districts cannot charge fees for fire hydrant and fire lane regulatory authority or inspection services related to residential construction.
