General assembly members and statewide elected officials who first take office on or after January 1, 2013, must pay 100% of health insurance premiums with no state contribution and receive no state contribution toward retiree health insurance.

Members of the general assembly who first take office on or after January 1, 2013, are not eligible for retirement benefits based on their legislative service and cannot accrue additional benefits or receive annuity payments while serving.

Statewide elected officials who first take office on or after January 1, 2013, are not eligible for retirement benefits based on their service as an elected official and cannot accrue additional benefits or receive annuity payments while in office.

Newly elected general assembly members and statewide elected officials may purchase optional life insurance and disability insurance at their own expense with no state contribution, but are not provided with basic life or disability benefits.

Existing restrictions on receiving benefits remain for those convicted of felonies connected to their official duties, and cost-of-living adjustments continue for those who took office before January 1, 2013.
