Beginning August 28, 2012, the director of revenue shall issue only one license plate per motor vehicle instead of a set of two plates for most vehicle types.

Vehicle owners with front license plates on the effective date must surrender the front plate to the department of revenue at their next vehicle registration renewal.

Property-carrying commercial motor vehicles registered over 12,000 pounds gross weight may request and be issued two license plates for an additional charge not exceeding the personalized license plate fee.

The single license plate shall bear the state name, "SHOW-ME STATE," registration expiration month and year, and identifying numbers or letters, with fully reflective material and common color scheme.

Provisions regarding issuance of only one license plate apply to personalized license plates and land improvement contractors' plates, with exemptions for special plates issued to disabled veterans and National Guard members.
